Q2 2026 User Group Call
The SurfnOnline User Group met on April 21, 2026 for its quarterly update on the software. The call brought the user community together to review the most recent platform release, walk through the current state of the application suite, and confirm priorities for the development work ahead. As in previous quarters, the agenda spanned both the SurfnOnline web platform and the underlying NUFMAP applications, with time reserved for open discussion and for shaping the next round of projects.
The current web platform release is Surfn 3.3.3, delivered in April 2026, the third in a quarterly sequence that also included 3.3.1 in February and 3.3.2 in March. Most of the user-visible work landed in SupplyManager inventory handling: lots can now be assigned to an "Unassigned" location, inventory quantities accept negative values and cost ceilings were raised substantially, and the combination of zero quantity with a positive cost now supports cost-only lots. An optional creation date field was added to support first-in, first-out treatment, quantity and cost rules are checked as they are entered with plain-language error messages, and date range fields in the location editor are now directly editable. Alongside these changes, planning continues on the platform structure — a reorganized server directory layout and a move toward linking relational databases into case workspaces — groundwork that will carry more capability into the future.
On the application side, ESM gained two new reports. End of Campaign Inventory produces an inventory balance following fuel receipt, reported by site for mines, converters and enrichers and by lot for the fabricator. Fuel Lot Mapping traces every lot that contributed to a reload, following the transaction chain by reactor unit, cycle and batch from purchase or balance through fabrication. ESM now also retains weight percent on SWU shipping lots, warns when contract deliveries exceed defined maximums, and reports project component expenditures by work order. Multiple versions of each NUFMAP code remain available on SurfnOnline, and users can select a specific version for a case by appending the version number to the application declaration, with production defaults managed through the Utilities – Applications feature. New editions of reference manuals were also released for the GEM-GPM and GEM-XY NUFMAP applications. Modernization of the codebase continues to move forward: GEM 10.2.0 joined ESM, GEM-GPM and SNAPXY as production conversions to current Fortran standards, while a parallel effort rebuilding legacy applications as Surfn libraries has INTRAC, REPORT and TRANSESM in beta and NUTRAC in development, each preserving the traditional command-line interface while opening the door to form-based screens for the subsidiary ledger, invoice processing and fuel receipt work. The next slate of development centers on Accountability Manager, where 741 data will be uploaded directly and tails assigned by line number, with material composition and reports recalculated as entries change.
The next quarterly call is scheduled for July 21, 2026. Feedback on the quarterly format and suggestions for agenda topics are always welcome. An in-person User Group meeting is planned for 2027, with the date still being determined.
