Q3 2026 User Group Call
The SurfnOnline User Group met on July 21, 2026 for its quarterly update on the software. The user community gathered virtually to review the newest platform release, walk through recent updates across the NUFMAP application suite, and set priorities for upcoming development work. The session also covered ongoing modernization of the underlying codebase and the group's shared roadmap for future enhancements.
The call highlighted SurfnOnline Release 3.3.7, issued in July 2026 following a steady cadence of releases through the spring and summer. Recent updates to SupplyManager added a Notes field to transactions, introduced equivalent lots on enrichment deliveries to split into SWU and feed, and added column header filters to both the Transactions and Locations views. Selection logic for material draw-down was refined to weight decisions by draw-from percentages, and the platform's file upload limit was raised to 5MB to support larger data transfers. Behind the scenes, the team published a new Server Setup Guide and added scripting to streamline site and subsite provisioning — groundwork that supports faster deployment and expanded platform capability going forward.
On the NUFMAP side, ESM introduced a new contract delivery notification feature that automatically generates a list of upcoming notifications by due date, while LPGEN's parser was updated to support quarter-core shuffle maps and extended-cycle configurations. SurfnOnline supports running multiple versions of NUFMAP codes side by side, letting users pin a specific release to a case while administrators set the default production version centrally. New editions of the GEM-ESM, GEM, and LPGEN reference manuals were recently released. Modernization work continued to advance: all targeted Fortran applications — including GEM, GEM-GPM, GEM-XY, ESM, and LPGEN — have completed their initial restructuring toward modern language standards, and these programs now run across both ARM and x86 architectures. In parallel, the group is rewriting select legacy applications as modern Surfn libraries, with early features already in beta for run tracking, duplicate-detection safeguards, and relational-database-backed data management in the Nutrac and Intrac libraries. Looking ahead, the group is prioritizing new development around accountability and core design management tools, updated invoice processing, clearer NUFMAP error messaging, and expanded regulatory reporting support.
The next SurfnOnline User Group quarterly call is scheduled for October 13, 2026. Members are encouraged to share feedback and suggest agenda topics ahead of the meeting. Planning is also underway for the group's next in-person User Group meeting in 2027, with dates to be announced.
